Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) has been the go-to method for helping children with autism learn a variety of skills. But guess what? There’s a new kid on the block—Progressive Applied Behavior Analysis (PABA). This modern twist on traditional ABA is all about flexibility, creativity, individualization, and efficiency.

How does Blossom use the Principles of Progressive ABA?

  • Personal Touch: Every child’s plan is as unique as they are, focusing on what they love and what works best for them. Progressive ABA is even responsive to day to day, and moment to moment changes with the child. We meet them where they are right NOW.
  • Natural Teaching: Skills are taught during real-life activities, whether it’s during playtime, snack time, or any other part of the day. We are always ready for that next learning opportunity!
  • Flexibility throughout: Therapists mix things up based on how the child is doing, keeping the sessions fresh and engaging. Blossom’s curriculum also allows for a variety of possible “right” answers from the child to keep learning moving.
  • Relationships First: Building strong, positive connections with the child and their family is key, making the whole experience more supportive and enjoyable.
  • Doing the Right Thing: Respecting the child’s autonomy and making sure their voice—and their family’s—is heard and valued from the very first day at Blossom.

What’s the Catch?

Progressive ABA requires higher levels of training in order to teach clinical judgment to the clinicians. But the time spent in training is worth the ability to be responsive to each child and each unique session. That responsivity (all due to the clinical judgment!) allows us to speed up progress by maximizing every treatment moment.

In a Nutshell

Progressive ABA is making waves by offering a fresh, flexible approach to teaching a variety of skills. It’s all about creating interventions that are as unique as the people they’re designed for, making the journey of learning and growth more engaging, effective, and, yes, a lot more fun! Sounds like a perfect match for our treatment approach here at Blossom!
